Pub Confidential Episode #2 (Ray Carney)

Pub Confidential is a monthly podcast based in Seattle, Washington. Mingus OâBannon interviews musicians and artists of all stripes in various pubs around Seattle. It is an attempt to get a more intimate and honest view of the artist and his or her passions, motivations, and influences.
On the second episode, Mingus interviews Ray Carney; An Irish expatriate whose singing and song writing are deserving of a much wider appreciation. Ray talks about some of his early musical influences, he discusses growing up in Dublin during The Troubles, and what it means to be âauthentic.â?
The conversation has a depth and honesty, with a dark humor running throughout. Ray is in the tradition of the great Irish balladeers, but turns much of that tradition on its ear with his edgy interpretations of Irish standards and his unflinching delivery of songs that tell of truths and experiences often unexplored by most musicians.
